So Satch started using guitars with locking nuts because he likes doing crazy things with his whammy bar but that was probably back when locking tuners didn't exist.
My question is, can you get the same versatility from a fender-type guitar with locking tuners as you can from an Ibanez-type locking nut setup?
And do Fenders with floating bridges exist?
Not that I like Fenders and things but, if I ever got one, I'd want it to be as stable as possible (tuning wise on standard EADGBE)
Thoughts?

Just to clarify, first of all: a floating trem is any two stud trem that can be adjusted so the bridge floats above the surface of the guitar. So most Strats these days are floating trems. A Floyd Rose is a double-locking trem.
For all intents and purposes, an Ibanez is a Strat with a double-locking trem and humbuckers.
Fender do still make guitars with double locking systems, the Ritchie Sambora springs to mind.
A properly set up floating bridge with a graphite nut and locking tuners is very nearly as stable as a double-locking system (listen to what Jeff Beck does with one) and has the advantage of better tone and relative stability when you are not using the trem. However, if you are prone to really radical whammy bar work, only a Floyd trem will stay in tune (until you break a string, then all hell breaks lose).

Cool, thanks Alan ? Yeah Jeff Beck DID come to mind. The man does crazy things and it's all with a Strat-like guitar.
