Mint Green Pickguard for Strat, Different Mounting Holes

Bought this off eBay after seeing Reinhards Jap strat with the same colour guard 8) It arrived yesterday (week and a half shipping!) Now the problem is 3 of the holes dont line up with my original ones.. ☹ My options as I see it are:

1) Drill those 3 extra holes, they will be covered by the old pickguard should I choose to replace it or change it
2) Leave those 3 out for some reason
3) Sell it on and try find one that is correct for my strat.

What would you do? ☹

I'd leave those 3 outs. But I'm kinda ghetto ?

drill new holes. as you say the old/new holes will be covered by the new/old pickguard ? you could even fill the old holes up and paint over them if you so desire.

although.. what strat is it?

maybe not worth drilling holes if its something special.. :-[

Hardly special to most people, just a '91 Mexican Strat. The pickguard has 60's vintage mounting holes or something, clearly my Mex strat doesnt.

i don't know too much about the subject, but i've heard that most strat pickguards and bodies are off with regards to the holes lining up.. more so i'd say if its not genuine fender meant for that specific guitar..

i'd go for it. but then again thats why squiers are fun ?

+1. Exactly - even the Fender guards rarely fit perfectly. Drill and be done. BTW - just drill through the finish to prevent chipping and let the screw do it's self-tapping thing.

Will attempt this tonight then thanks. Any idea of what size drill bit? Will grab one on the way home. ?

Not the best pic but its weird how the mint green blends in and you dont really notice its green, I like it 8)
