This is a funny story, which really opend my eyes to perfect pitch

So the other day, was making food in the microwave, and now I must let you know that there is somethign wrong with the microwave door, the spring is old, so everytime I close it, you can hear a distinct twang. That twang produces a note ? This is where it gets interesting.

So I put the food in, closed the door, heard the twang, and outta interest I was like, hmmmm I wonder what note that twang is. After thinking about it in my head for a while I said "I think its A (as in the note A)", needless to say I went to the guitar to humour myself, and to my shock...

I dont think I have perfect pitch at all, but surely I am not far off? How I did it, was rather simple actually, that Im sure most good guitarists can do. I compared it to the standard tunings of my guitar (still in my head), you see I tune my guitar so much, I can by default know vaugly what e, b, g, d, a, e sounds like in my head. And using that as a reference I was able to work out that the mircrowave door was A.. How cool is this?

I went on to do it with more things such as; microwave buttons, the sound windows makes when you plug a flash in (Its E and A), the beggining of some songs. etc

Perhaps this goes into the catergory of Relative Perfect Pitch hahahaha?

theres a train that past my house now and then, the note of the horn sound is Bflat. it was just random that i played that exact note on the guitar when the train went past.

Everytime the train passes, i'll improvise something that goes down with Bflat.

Careful working near damaged microwave ovens....they say it has an affect on the voice box...your voice becomes higher and higher over time. When last have you had a voice test done ?

Well I think its just a faulty spring, surley wont affect vocal chords

Someone once told me the dial tone on a normal telkom phone is also A....

Maybe they where taking the mickey out of me.... :-\ but I never actually checked for myself.

It certainly used to be 440 Hz. When I worked in a telephone exchange. Which was before there was a band named U2 and before a guy named Joe Satriani had a record deal.

On the topic of A = 440hz

something i found on google now about 440hz vs 432hz reference tuning.
I researched someting about guitar tuners before, but never reference tuning, interesting i must say.
(Yes i found it on a forum of a conspiracy site, lol, there is some funny stuff on that site)
