I bought a set of D'addario Phosphor Bronze Acoustic strings for R95.00 from Matt's Music yesterday.
This seems a bit pricey and I just can't find the thread where it was mentioned that you can buy bulk strings locally!
I am playing a lot more than I used to so I need to change at least once a month or more!

Well I remember someone saying they pay like 40 bucks for a set if they buy pack of ten at Musicmate east pretoria. but that was electric strings and they are cheaper than PB. But give all the stores a shout and see what they will give you.

look, i agree that strings can get pricy if you dont buy bulk but look at it from this angle- outside of gauteng, those same pb strings sell for R130 - R150. R95 is the recommended price determined by D' addario. buying bulk is the only way to go. no dealer (unless you know them personally) will easily discount on a single set of strings

Thanks Ray and Christo

I want to buy a years supply i.e. 12 or more packs of strings

what gauge are you using?
and are you keen to buy now or wait a bit?

Matt sells strings in bulk. I bought the strings used for the recent "anthem" competition from him.

Any store will discount on bulk if you ask for it - particularly on their own imports. I usually buy Ernie Balls a box at a time from Bothner's.
