Hey guys, I really want to get my hands on one of the new 2010 models.
I've got two questions:
1. Where is the best place to get hold of one? (Besides the obvious; certain options will literally cost an and arm and probably two legs)
Out of all the options I've checked out, www.thomann.de seem to be the best (Their asking price is 1290 EUR = R+-12130 excl. shipping and SA customs)
That price is for the HSS RWTU
2. I want to modify it a wee bit: Get a pick-up in there that will provide enough punch to do some heavier stuff when necessary.
What would be the best option for this modification? Guitar-wise; the HSS or the normal Deluxe? Pick-ups; what's the best way to go here?
Hope you guys can help!

I dont know hey, i got one last week for 15k ( was second hand but in mint condition ).
You can wait for another huge sale at MC/marshall/TOMS and get one?
I'm not to keen on importing stuff, you need to feel it and feel if its for you or not. Fender deluxe's are well made in general, but all guitars still feel different.

Also just bought 2nd had one, 2008 model though but in perfect nick. Fantastic guitar, most notably feel and playability. Paid 12k, double the price new. The more expensive the guitar (US made that is), the bigger the saving on importing, but also can be risky not trying it out for yourself. On the mod side the S1 switching gives some usefull options, you should try out the stock set-up before deciding on pickup combinations.
Good luck

Just for interest, what's the major difference between the MIA Standard and Deluxe?
Roberto
Differences are:
Pickups (noiseless SCN/N3 on Deluxe)
S1 switching system on Deluxe
Staggered, Locking Tuners on Deluxe
Neck and fretboard finishing is a bit different
Plus a few asthetics
Check out Fender.com for all specs

You are missing the default straplocks Roberto. The deluxe also gets better wood. The standard is a 3 piece body and the deluxe is a 2 piece body ( as far as i know )
Roberto
Ja thanks, the strap locks are a nice touch, as for the wood didn't know that, but wouldn't argue as I have the sunburst and the grain and finish on the body and neck are really top-notch
