hi ya all, yes believe it or not metal/rock guitarist evolution on this site (Peter Theron to the outside world) has come onboard one of my "orignal Acoustic projects" i'm calling "Duo Guitarras" we performing all original compositions of mine from my last cd and some new ones........ and will be gigging all over Jhb and maybe even the country this summer........
This "live Gig" was never meant to happen yet ...we were officially still in the rehearsal stages of this project ........but we were aiming for a video shoot for my website ( www.keirawitherkay.com ) to be done in a studio/rehearsal space but the space became unavailable at last minute......and rather delay the shoot i called a friend who owns a restaurant and offered her a lunchtime show on thurs ........... ?
but grrrrrrrrrr the plan worked in that we shot video which is already on the website.......... but the weather was wierd for jhb and the wind was howling ......... (this is not cape town ? ) so you will see the backdrop "blowing in the wind" despite being weighted down and then i have usually performed at this restaurant on sundays so i never realised how loud the traffic noise is on a biz day .......so this lead to a less than perfect video....... but hey who gets hung up perfection anyway ?
so yeah below are some of the vids they all short clips of a minute or so just to be tasters of what we do so won't consume too much bandwidth
anyway despite the weather and traffic and unexpected live gig it was fun and the unsuspecting lunch crowd loved it ...... so from that aspect we can now consider that the "Duo Guitarras" project is now "gig tested" and passed with flying colours and the handing out of biz cards to quite a few people interested in bookings.............
this project is fun and original and 100% live and hopefully in a venue near you soon
"A song for Sue"
"A song for Sue" part 2
"Morocco"
"Havana"
"Heather in Spring" a quasi classical guitar duet
"Song for Kathryn"
just some points for the gear fans.we playing with minimal gear ....... both guitars are my vintage Di Geogio guitars made in Brazil... .... i'm playing the '74 with wild olive back and sides and peter is playing the "72" both fitted with LR baggs ibeam active nylon pickups and i'm using the LR baggs gigpro preamp and Peter is using my behringer AD20 acoustic preamp /DI then direct into the desk the percussion is mic'd up where neccessary ......and the mix is going to 12' powered speakers ........ so a simple setup but very natural sounding ......... which is always the goal with my projects

Hectically good stuff.
Keira, this project will work!!!
Evo/Peter as we have never seen or heard before compliments Keira's playing completely.

thanks everyone for the kind words..........
and also i'd publically like to thank peter /evolution for doing the work to change his whole style and switch to nylon string guitar to fit in with my project ....
as someone mentioned he compliments my style perfectly........ and i agree 100%
i'll be the 1st to admit that i find it hard to work with other guitarists as i tend to improvise on the spot even compose on the spot at gigs......... so peter has learnt to stay away from getting in the way of my natural style which is no small achievement and needs to be commended........ ?
and i'm quite the outspoken director( dictator ? ) of my projects and he had to weather 2 rehearsals initially of me saying ..."thats not right........... thats not right.......... try it this way or that way " till he found a way to adapt his style to fit my vision of what i wanted..... and amazingly he did .....
but that 'fitting of a square peg into a round hole" only took 2 rehearsals of hair pulling then after the 2nd cup of coffee at rehearsal 3 it magically all came together and now we play together now like we been doing it for years........
from my side it's a pleasure to work with peter cos he realises how to give me what i want and in turn i may set up some paramaters but for the rest i allow him to also improvise/solo as he wish's and push the boundies in most of the compositions except on 2 or 3 songs ( like the heather in spring clip) that need close harmony everything else is improvised and open to a new interpretation every show
so yeah we also only about halfway through the repetoire and next is a few african sounding compositions of mine then some ragtime , some celtic and even some bluegrass as we not yet diverse enough and we will always be a "world music duo" not tied to one genre ....... even tho the recording you all saw were very "latin'esque"
thanks again for your support
so yeah this gig as i said was premature and not meant to happen yet but it was fabulous and above all fun ........
