How much of the saddle protrudes from the bridge Vic?
About 2.5 cm on either side....
No, I meant how much of the saddle sticks out above the bridge (not on the sides)
If you say the guitar's action is low, and there is plenty of saddle left, that is usually an indication of a good neck-set. For an old guitar like yours it would be exceptionally good!
Those are great guitars Vic they succeeded the LG-1 which was a ladder braced model, and in turn was succeeded by the L-00.
I know a builder in the States that used to work for Gibson and Santa Cruz GC - he makes a model called the Minstrel, and it is based on the LG-2.
His name is Daniel Roberts - you can find him under that name on Facebook. He should be able to tell you all about these famous Gibby acoustics.
Sorry Zohn...I misread.
There's plenty sticking out above the bridge...at high E , about 3mm, in the middle, about 7mm and at low E, about 5mm..
The action is very nice up to 7th fret or so, then becomes a bit higher downwards. Keep in mind that most of the playing (chords) happened between low E and B on these guitars.
