Yeah. He's a really good player. Writes a lot of songs as well - for himself and for other artists. I became aware of him via The Transatlantic Sessions. He's currently touring as a member of Robert Plant's band, sharing guitar duties with Buddy Miller.

I have a live album of his that presents quite a different side of his art. He plays mostly electric on this disc, and it's really power trio stuff with one Kenny Malone on drums (I don't know much about him, but he seems to have a big reputation in Nashville and he's a very good player) and the amazing Danny Thompson on bass.

That has both these songs on it. "River Take Me" gets the full band treatment.

What interests me here is that Scott, just him and his acoustic guitar, recreates the songs so well so that although the instrumentation is drastically different the songs. as delivered here, still stand up. I think that speaks of good songs and a good player.

Ja, no kidding, I sometimes sit for hours trying to find good acoustic artists and whenever I find them, Bob already knows about them. So come on Bob, share some other great names to youtube! ?

I actually don't actively look for acoustic players. It does seem to me that there are a lot of guys around who can and do perform both with a band (either on electric or acoustic) and solo (which may have something to do with the cost of taking a band on the road), and a lot of artists I am interested in or get drawn to seem to work that way.

I do think the sort of stripped down acoustic mode has things going for it. There's less places to hide is what I think, so the playing and the material has to be strong (though in the case of somebody like Loudon Wainwright the material by far out strips the playing) and the performer has to have a good delivery. One show I wanted to see in London in June, but couldn't because it sold out so fast, was a rare solo show by Elvis Costello who certainly has the chops and the material to pull off something like that.

Well there's some fine local artists you should consider if you want to listen to some good acoustic guitar work.

I've heard all those guys live, LOVE their stuff.. Got quite a few Nibs and Guy CD's, anyone know where I can pick up some Newmon and cox? Don't have any of theres! ☹
