Hey, I'm new to this forum and I couldn't find a thread on this. I'm looking to buy a Boss DD-7, and I've got a few questions. First of all, does it self oscillate? Let's say, if I turn the feedback knob all the way up and activate the pedal while playing, can I then kneel down and turn the Delay Time knob to make it speed up and slow down? I would love if anyone of you would like to record a video with a few oscillation demonstrations just so I can see how it plays out.
Second, is there some way to Hold a long riff, and then play it reverse? Or would I need some other kind of loop pedal for that kind of thing?
I am also looking for a good distorsion pedal, and I don't know what to buy. I mostly play modern hardcore in my bands, but I also need to get a full clean sound. Any suggestions would be great. Someome told me the Boss MT-2 is only good if you mod it, which I don't have the resources for.
Thanks!
Vick
Oky, first off,welcome man ?
The dd-7 is digital,so probably no,it duz not self oscillate....thou I'm not sure about this, haha
I have a line 6 echo park that is digital, but you can make it self oscillate, and then slow down and speed up and add chorus, reverb or vibrato(all with just the one pedal)...
And the oscillatesion is decent...
the line 6 has a reverse mode... And the boss probably also has it...
About the dist pedal, what bands are you into?
I guess your into Circle takes Square?
If yes, then no,don't go for the metal zone,
rather something like a mxr distortion+
its not complicated and easy to get a good sound out of,ranging from subtle to more semi-extreme...
O and give it a day or two and sum one will probably give you
the run down on the dd-7 ?

Thank you for your reply.
Are you sure about the DD-7? I'm super sure I've read somewhere that it DOES oscillate. My budget is at a real minimum, and while the delay itself is the reason for buying this pedal, I'd still love the yummy oscillation too since I am also into bands like The Fall of Troy and Tera Melos who use these things mixed with stuff like Line6 FM4 and DL4. I'm not sure you fully got my question about reverse, I know it's there, my question was if you can play a long piece and then reverse that, looping it. Sounds like the work of a loop station though.
And besides Circle, I'm into a different range of bands, like older screamo, modern hardcore, post-hardcore like Meet Me In St. Louis, but also poppier stuff like Colour and Tubelord (if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm REALLY into math-music). So, what about the Boss Metal Core 2? Would that work good for my needs?

Dud,if your into that kinda stuff, then way do u want metal dist pedals?Haha
And by the way,the mxr and the boss should cost about the same...
Like I said,I wasn't sure about the dd-7,so I quickly googled it now,and yup,it duz,in analog mode(don't know about the others) ?
And about the riff backwards thing, yup, you need a looper or sum thing in that line...
MIKA-the-better-one
yeh pass the metalzone... or most boss in my view.... they really dont do much for guitar tone in my belief....... MXR dist 3......... thats where its at, great pedal. Or a mi audio crunchbox.... and if you go towards boutique pedals..... well we can make a huge list for you.......
Maybe even a proco rat...... or a dirty rat....... Or mi audio tubezone, actually this would be my suggestion...... mi audio tubezone
NOW delay...... dd7 does self oscillate as far as i know........ Howevr not as good as a real analogue delay...... I am sellinga mxr carbon copy...... and it loves oscialltion, and good delay sounds....
