Well here we go!

The original piece I posted was taken by Arjun and Guy Onraet and given a funky lead! Well done guys!

To quote Guy's mail to me: (hope you don't mind Guy)

Info: Arjun went first and I dialled in his smooth tone, then I had a go and he dialled in a more modern tone for me.

Arjun hit it on his first attempt but I couldn’t get my improv going on the day, but the next day my chops were back and I nailed what you hear on my first take.

We both missed a few notes and hesitated here and there, but the idea was to keep it totally improvised. The contrasting styles and note choice is also pretty cool I think.

So without further ado, I present Mercury Planet:

yeah, this is a wicked way to colaborate.

maybe we could get a sub forum going and make it a weekly or monthly thing. Norio?
great for improv practice, great for recording practice, great for hearing each other play ?
the idea would be to leave them a little raw (no more than 3 takes to get the improv down) and every week different people can submit backing tracks and then everyone has a go soloing.

Nah, see, the idea is to try and solo as best you can every week. So that in no time you'll be getting crazy like Arjun and AJB. Plus your confidence will grow, plus you'll get good feed back on how to improve your playing.

But if you're not confident enough yet, backing tracks are always welcome ?

Ok, I know I'm digging up an old post here but please do yourself a favour, give this track a listen again.

I haven't listened to it in a while and for the last two days it's been on repeat...

I will write a new piece shortly (a day or three) and post it for the guys to shred over.
