My 1st (and only) body took me 9 months to make.
Most of that was learning, paralysed fear & error correction, but a significant amount can be reduced by having the correct preparation, including tools & templates.
So I'm busy preparing step by step for what I believe is possible - to cut out and shape a strat body in a single day.
One area of weakness was my router.
I used a (very high end), but low powered (1000w) router and felt that something more powerful would be better.
On Saturday I splashed out and bought this Makita, with 1/2" collet and 3.25HP motor.

Because it is more powerful and cuts more easily it feels
less aggressive than my little router ... which was a pleasant and counter-intuitive surprise.
It's lovely.
