Highly skilled guitarist needed

Hi Guys

I have an existing guitar duet that performs original music regularly. The aim is not to tap into the mainstream but to write and perform beautiful acoustic music. At the moment it is a mixture of flamenco, jazz, blues, world.... I have realeased 1 CD independently under this duet's name already and I am aiming to distribute it's music wider next year.

I envisage a new project where the neo classical and progressive genres are incorporated on electric as well. I am planning to use the internet as the main distribution media.

All these plans are to kick in 2009 only but if you are
-Highly musical
-Down to earth (no egos)
-Willing to compose and work hard outside the lucrative mainstream market
-Passionate about beautiful guitar music
-A guitarist with great improv skills, reasonable knowledge of theory and above average technique
-not a drug or alchohol abuser (you need a sober mind for this type of music)

Bugger, I knew there had to be a catch. You're looking for someone who can actually play.

The Pretoria thing is also an issue.

LOL. Alan, I'm sure you can play well. I hope that post didn't come across arrogant. That is the last thing I want. I'll be doing alot of guitar centered things next year and I need another guitarist to take an equal interest in the project ?

I do alright at my own thing, but fitting in with others has always been a problem and my theory is non-existent. I really wish my folks had forced me to take piano as a kid or something.

No, not arrogant at all - it's your music and the last thing you want is the guitarist equivalent of the guy who grabs the mic at a pub gig and insists he can sing (as long as you can play Achy Breaky Heart). God help you if he wants to do Roxanne.

You looking to do a Cox/Newman type thing, are you? With electric leanings?

Yes a Cox / Newman type thing but with a stronger Flamenco influence and then yes, I want to incorporate the electric for neo classical sounds and maybe prog sounds. Those are my main influences I would say but obviously whatever other genres the other guitarist brings to the table can be welcome. I'm just NOT going to cover "O Ryperd". Everyone has their limits!

I don't fit your description at all but, if no one else comes forward, I'd be keen to at least meet up and jam. I'm in Centurion so it'd be easy enough to get together.

I have no theory knowledge whatsoever, but luckily i play metal,so i do alright..
I'm selftought,but i think lessons would've been a better idea..Opinions?

I don't know how you play so I can't tell what you would most benefit from. Lessons are good only if you have a good teacher. I've had some pretty useless teachers so watch out who you take lessons from. In my opinion, metal is not inferior to any other genre so you should treat it as such and give it everything you got. Some of the world's most amazing musicians are metalheads. I dunno, does that make sense?
