fender squier strats

Hi guys. After I've built my 5E3, I'm going to start saving to buy a Strat shape/sounding guitar, so I thought in the meantime I would start researching. I don't have a huge budget as I am a student, so I will be looking at something at the low end of the scale for the meantime, ie Squiers. I have looked at the other Strat shaped guitars (corts, sx's, etc, etc, etc.. there are innumerable copies) and they don't really fit the bill IMO. I would prefer to have a Strat copy that is at least authorized by Fender and built to the same specs in a similar way. The sort of spec/sound I am looking for that of a 60's Strat. Pickup configuration I want is SSS. Preferably cream/white, but its not that important. I will most definitely upgrade the electronics along the way, and possibly the neck and other hardware too. If anyone has any info on Squiers that they could share, and insights re the best ones, I would be most grateful. I know there are at least MIC and MIJ ones, and lots of different sorts on offer (classic vibes, affinity, bullet etc etc). Thanks ?

Danie

Squier Classic Vibe Series Stratocaster.

I have the CV 50's, and I will tell you it's one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played.
