Well I used to think that too Mike, but the Squier has to be the right one.

Hmm, also needs a clean but you can see a big difference here.
My MIM Fender is similar to the JapStrat and I like them both. That MIC is horrible. It doesn't feel like a Strat, sound like a strat or taste like a strat.
The one flaw is an indication of how little care must have been put into the rest of the guitar.
