DonovanB Ok ma-gents (and ma-ladies), One of my bands, Stereo in Flight is playing at Zack's, Wilson's Wharf on Tues the 24th August. We start at 8pm sharp... (It's nice having a graphic designer in your band)
PeteM Nice one Don - but have they got a sound engineer yet. When we last played there, we were expected to pitch with our gear and play - no sound balance, nothing, with the result that the house bands sound good because they are used to their set up and all the invited bands sound crap. Even Dan Patlansky, in my opinion, sounded lousy. It's not quite fair. Hope your band has a better deal with the organisers.
DonovanB Thanks for the heads up PeteM. I have played there a few times with different bands and had various issue with sound and monitoring. We have arranged for our own Sound Engineer anyway from experience. I have seen the other bands play and sound ok, GarthS can probably tell you more about how his band worked around it. I never like to leave the sound of a band up to a random stranger, even though I know the guys at the Blues Train and see them all the time, one can never expect them to have the same buy in to your band as you do. I feel it is important to have someone with your same vision and goal doing the sound, they are part of the band... We have gone all out for this one, even though it's a 30 minute slot, everyone is really pumped and it's going to be very good.

DonovanB Despite the singer being in surgery this weekend, he is out and ready to go. The band is pumped and tonight is going to be huge. Hopefully those in Durban will pull in. I am polishing up the Carparelli for a wicked jam tonight.
