So...
As I had a TS9 come across my table and so decided to tweaks a couple more things, it got my standard mods, basically upgrading the caps, revoicing the input cap to allow for a better bass response and TS9 to TS808 output resistor conversion.
I then tried something new and that was playing with the clipping diodes, replacing a one of the small silicon signal diodes with a series pair of a red LED and Germ Diode, giving it better sweeter 2nd order harmonics and causing it to clip asymmetrically (like a valve amp does), verdict is still out on if I prefer it to the stock clipper pair... will do some more tests tomorrow.
What was also fun was fitting in a new 'True Bypass' system which I'm importing from the USA by Jack Deville Electronics aptly called the "click-less" true bypass system, for which I'm a certified installer.
It is the most elegant way of adding true bypass to tone sucking pedals from the likes of Ibanez/Boss etc. It works wonders and really applauded Jack and Cameron for their hard work/efforts in designing them.
You can see more here:
http://www.clicklesstruebypass.com/ and they have just been featured in the August issue of Premier Guitar. I also made mention of it with a video here:
http://www.guitarforum.co.za/effects/finally!-an-elegant-solution-for-%27true-bypass%27-in-boss-and-ibanez-pedals!/
Here are a couple pics of the job...
You can just make out the 'click-less' relay board on the right near the input jack, follow the yellow wire, the whole PCB fits inside the pedal with ease and is out of the way of the main PCB.
Cheers
