The streets of London

FatBoy

On Friday I have been informed that I will be going to work in London for 10 days in September, I take off on the 3rd. I am uber excited as I have never been overseas and of course this is the place that brought me many of my favourite artists, most notably, The Rolling Stones!

Now my question to you guys is this, can you recommend any sights / places I need to see as a musician? I really need to start writing my own songs but I feel that I lack the inspiration these days. I am hoping something I see over there will touch me enough to get the creative juices flowing again.

Guy-Onraet

Dunno about creative inspiration, but you have to make a trip to Denmark Road, which is off Tottenham Court Road. It's a really short street with a lot of really cool guitar shops in it. Further down Tottenham Court Road is Turnkey, the biggest musical instrument shop in Europe, 5 floors.

Thanks man, I will definitely try to make it there!!

How about Abbey Road Studios - never been there while I was there, much to my regret now. Don't know if they'd allow people in, but you could get three mates and cross the zebra crossing like the Beatles!

FatBoy

Oooh! Good one! Will see what I can do about that one! Thanks for the tips, keep em coming!

Here's something combining your love for the Stones and Abbey Road!!! LOL :P [img][/img] Riaan C

ROFL! I have a feeling I will need a camera and a round stone on this trip!!

Here's another idea: take along a large inflatable pig, go to the Battersea Power Station and take a few pics with the pig floating up in the sky. Then cut the pig loose... and Run Like Hell ?

and ... if you negotiate the minefield in the drive; and beat the dogs and cheat the cold electronic eyes. And if you make it past the shotgun in the hall ...

OK ? We'll stop the Floyd stuff now. Forgive the other Riaan. He's gearing up for the tribute show!! PS: Riaan, what night are you going??

We'll be going to the Saturday 27th show...you'll spot me instantly, I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm, and the inevitable pinhole burns, all down the front of my favourite satin shirt... ?...OK, seriously, I'll stop now! Hope to see you guys there!

OK, look out for me. I'll have elastic bands keeping my shoes on, and during intermission I'll be leaning on Mel's grand piano to prop up my mortal remains!

Cheers

Dammit, now I can't go, 'cos you two have only left me wide staring eyes and a strong urge to fly (does the venue have balconies?).

Renesongs

I was in the UK in 2005 - I was clicking away at the scenery from a train window - mainly bleak unpainted houses and graffiti - one of the buildings looked strangely familiar ?

Riaan-Combrink

Cool pic, Rene!

Riaan

Yep, nice pic Rene! That's the one, Fritz!

Honestly - it took me about 10 min before I realised what I just snapped then I was showing my friends this pic of Battersea Power Station - they all thought I was a real nutter. London is just drenched in Rock legend. Fritz I don't think you will have to do much to pick-up the London Vibe - Just breath, breath in air...

FatBoy

Uber! Keep em coming gents, yea Rene I know what you mean about the vibe, I'm sure I'll be able to dig it!
