Refretting on Mid-Priced Acoustic

Hi All,

I've got a Cort Parkwood PW360 that I really enjoy and have enjoyed for a few years now. But due to extensive play some frets are really starting to wear out and causing fretbuz due to the worn frets. But as it is a guitar that sells new for around 7-8 thou I don't know if it is cost effective to have it refretted. If yes can anyone direct me to anyone in the CapeTown area who would do a relatively good job on it.

Thanks, I contacted Foster and delivered my guitar to his workshop this weekend. Very nice chap and looking forward to get my baby back again once he's done. Replacing 2-3 frets and general setup. I'll keep you posted.

Whats the price like? I asked for a quote for setup and leveling/dressing on my new old Squier, and he said about R950 (without having seen it).. which is like twice what the guitar is worth.. ☹

He has a baseline charge of R450 for general setup and service. For fretwork he charges R110 / fret so my quote turned out to be either R670 or R780 depending if he needs to replace a 3rd fret.

Yea Zohn, I agree. I think what I love the most is the neck. It was a smooth matty kinda finish when it was new, but now from years of playing It has been naturally polished into a even, smooth and "glossy" finish that just feels so "at home". It was almost as if it was made to be polished by your hands into a better finish and not to maintain the original finish for ever. But that's my nostalgic bond with my guitar talking I suppose. hehehe. Like a favourite pair of jeans.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I got my acoustic back from Foster vd Merwe and a few frets was replaced. Huge thanks for the reference to this guy. Superb job done! I would advise anyone to make use of his professional, yet warm and friendly service.
