There is such a wealth of untapped musical talent that is waiting to be given the opportunity of being able to perform on a stage. Not every musician wants to be part of a band; at the same time there are musicians in bands that want to have the opportunity of being able to perform their own songs as a soloist.
With this mind the Takamine Acoustic Guitar Xplosion is taking place at Tanz Café on Monday nights from May 10.
Each week musicians perform three songs. The best on the night proceed to the monthly semi-finals and from there have the opportunity of making the finals where Marshal Music are sponsoring a Takamine acoustic guitar worth R15 000.
Each month the best performing artist at the monthly finals also wins a days recording time at Get Phat Studios.Each participant also receives feedback after each performance from the judges. All participants will also have the opportunity of attending a series of music workshops.
