Nice guitar, but I think you'll struggle to find a second hand one in SAfrica.

A lot of guys buy a 335 and add the Bigsby.

Your best option is going to be importing from the USA or Japan. If you want, I can try find you a Japanese store that has one second hand that ships internationally? The shipping ain't cheap though. But at least the guitar is expensive enough that the shipping will still only be a modest proportion.

Also, will a B.B. King Lucille count? I saw one of those going for R17,000 or less in a Japanese store - but I'm not sure if they ship internationally. Or do you only want a red one? ?

But I can't say I've ever seen a 355 selling in SA.

That has got to be my least favourite finish Gibson used back in the day.
Ebay or an American dealer would be the way to go, even if you find one locally you're going to pay a fortune for it.
Why the 355? Do you like the look or another reason? The ebony board is going to give you a different tone to a 335 and make sure about the neck profile (fat, slim, flat profile etc.) You may want to check the 345's like Bob said, they look great, you have a varitone to mess iwth and those inlays are sexy. You also get a rosewood board.

Apart from the trapeze tailpiece, the 355 is cosmetically different eg has the split diamond on headstock and has block inlays on an ebony fingerboard. The varitone switch could also be absent...the mono models.
The 355 is the high end version of the 335 and 345.....same as LP std vs LP Custom
