The thing is, one of the best pieces of advice is to not build until you have all the parts. Stops you from buying a second set of tuners since the bore in your headstock is too big and stuff like that. You can skimp on not buying pups since those are pretty standardised, and strap buttons and pickguard screws you can always put in. But you should actually have frets, nut, bridge, stop block and studs, truss rod, tuners, switches and pots unless you want to rout after finishing.
