North Korean? The poor little girl is going to be used as propaganda to demonstrate the superiority of communism and to glorify the state and whichever despot is in charge at the moment. She'll be taught nothing but guitar playing until she's too old to be used for the glory of the people's revolution, at which point she'll be tossed on the scrapheap having never enjoyed a regular childhood.

But I disagree with Pete. I think anything that North Koreans do has to be seen in the context of their living in the world's biggest hostage situation. It was the same with their football team.

You can only hope that that monstrous regime collapses in time for this little girl to be able to take her abilities out into the world.

It ain't a career though, Don. What does she know of the world outside the one in which the leader's birth was divinely forshadowed by some hummingbird or some such kak?

For her this is about doing well at a child's level. Receiving appreciation for things people have told her to do. (let's hope the cliches are wrong and she hasn't been threatened with the deaths of her parents). But to be a young adult and go out there and see the appreciation of the world for her incredible efforts.

That's another thing. That's living through freedom.
