Finally!! DS' Alchemy released on DVD!

I've been away for a while, but it doesn't appear anybody has flagged this ...

I was blown away to find Dire Straits' Alchemy concert film in Musica yesterday! Since its release in 1984, I've owned this concert on vinyl, Betamax, VHS and CD - and could never understand why this seminal live performance was never brought to DVD. ?

But now ... here it is. Well worth the price of admission if only to see the drummer at work. Great concert by the classic line up during the Love over Gold era.

Funny - I saw this first time when it came out and I wasn't impressed. No headbanging, no bouncing around on stage, no-one spinning on their back while they soloed - all quite humdrum and boring. I saw it again years later and was absolutely riveted by the sheer musicality of it all. Shows you how we grow.

So I went off to the record bar and bought it. I remember this was on the television quite some years back. It is too grand hey. I also have another DVD of DS - think it's on the night. I think the only guys on both are Mark Knopfler and John Isley. Anyway, record bars are like golf pro shops. If you go to get a sleeve of balls you will get a wedge and a putter and maybe a driver. So I actually bought some Rolling Stones (a compilation disc and Exile) and JJ Cale Troubadour and a cd of JJ Cale and Eric Clapton. And I stopped then. On my way back I was listening to some stones and got into a bit of a scene with the oke in the 4X4 in front of me becasue I was singin and he thought I was shouting the odds. Oh well, I dont know what it is that these bakkies and things bump up the testosterone so hey. But the point is that record bars can be bad for your health.
