Being another Ibanez RG/JEM player I'd be interested to hear if you found a big change going from one to the other.
Everything is different to my Ibanez guitars. Scale length, frets, radius, neck thickness and width, body shape, balance, Tone etc. etc. String spacing seems narrower but the smaller radius of the neck balances that out a tad it seems. At this stage the action is also a little higher, but I'll drop that over time. For heavier tones and chunky riffs this guitar kicks any of my Ibanez guitars' butts. It’s a monster in this respect. Still has a surprisingly sweet lead tone on the EMG 60... Slightly less versatile than my Ibanii but it does what it was made for exceptionally well imo.
I love the fact that the guitar is so very different from my other guitars. It forces me to focus more on my technique to accommodate this 'foreign' instrument. I can already see an improvement in my playing and when I switch back to an Ibanez everything seems to happen so much smoother and with less effort than in the past.
I actually collected the guitar just before band practice and when I plugged it in at our rehearsal room and started playing, I was sweating quite a bit because I had to focus so much more to try and make her sing. After putting in a few hours, I am exceptionally happy to have this ESP to contrast my Ibanii... I love the Truckster’s quality, tone and playability. :woohoo:
