I've just spent a lot of time trying all the acoustic amps I could lay my hands on (basically everything but the AERs). Eventually I came around to what Mojo recommended at first (I'm gonna hear about
that I'm sure ?) - a powered PA speaker or two. I've always used PA for acoustics & piezos, but was hoping to get a single combo amp, but they all either didn't please me tonally or lacked features I really wanted (like proper DI outs).
So I'm gonna look at the Wharfdale Titan 8 & 12 actives, which are inexpensive, compact and from everything I've heard, great sounding. If I get a pair, I can run them stereo and with a mixer they can double as a small PA for speech or even as monitors if needed. Also, I could add a sub later to make them more flexible for (slightly) bigger PA gigs.

I am extremely satisfied with my Roland AC-60
I had highest hopes for the AC-60 (really nice size!), but was a bit disappointed with the tone - I think it really needs the optional sub (which is not being imported apparently) to really work well.
The most surprising ones were the cheapies - The little 20W Ibanez and the Laney range.
