Hey chaps,
I am getting married soon and would like to play a song for my wife to be ..
Any recommendations?
Note that I am an extremely green guitarist ... If I could get away with a 3 or 4 chord song 8)
I have about 6 months to go.
I was thinking of taking a common song but then changing the words a bit ?
Cool

Flyleaf with Wanna be there for you
Hinder - Lips of an angel

Listen to some K's Choice, they got some good stuff!

No dude - engrish only please ?
I havent heard any of these that you've mentioned - are they technical pieces?

No idea, but that means lots of people didnt, so you can simplify them without anyone knowing... or fake it like Milly Vanilly!

You can take just about any song you want and do it simply. How are you vocally? If you have a moderate voice, the guitar simply has to accompany you. I'm assuming you'll be using an acoustic here? If so, take a couple of songs that you might like to do and google the chords and lyrics. You'll get PLENTY of hits. Most of them will be simple chords. Keep it uncomplicated, practice, and you'll have no problem.

I think you should maybe avoid that one... at all costs. I'm pretty sure the dude is singing about an ex that he wishes he was still with instead of his wife/current girlfriend ?
"Girl you make it hard to be faithful..." ....eish!

Why not write your own song? If you're going to change the words, you're most of the way there anyway. Then you can take any simple song, get the chords off it, and alter the melody, for example.
Use a simple effective chord combination. Get a melody (if it's you're not singing all the same note, you're doing fine), and put yer ol' heart into it. It's going to mean a lot more if you say, "I wrote you this song." Might well knock her socks off.
Just run it by some friends in good time to make sure it's not wince-inducingly awful ?

That song... how does it go...
I like big butts and i cannot lie... nice song for a wedding.

He-he, well hats off to you sir. You've got bigger cahunas than me I tell ya ? A song you wrote yourself will be first prize for sure. And even if you turn out to rhyme like a lovestruck 12 year old, the context will bring a tear to many an eye. Failing that, a classic with easy chords like Grow old with you - adam sandler or something more grandiose like Making love out of Nothing at all - air supply, might work.

baby baby I get so flustered... when i see you eatin' all my Danone Custard!
leave that alone... or im goin' hoommmmeeeee

"If I should fall behind" by Bruce Springsteen. Easy melody, 4 chords and great lyrics. It worked every time at every wedding I have played.

Ok, I'm not gonna be a smart-arse..........if I were in your shoes, and if I was gonna sing ANY song for my wife............it would most certainly be.........
(ok, I am a bit of a romantic...............)
"THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS"- and definitely the BETTE MIDLER version......... ? I'm sure you could learn that quite quickly, and all the best!
