Introducing myself

Hi there, I've seen this forum a few times but was never tempted to sign up till today. I'm in Durban, I like blues and metal. I started with early seattle stuff and then moved to the norwegian metal scene ... but that was when I was younger - now I like everything...I suppose that comes with age. Right now I'm listening to the new Nevermore album - which I think is a step backward for the band - but they're so good...it's still better than most. Also the new High on Fire - that's probably one of my favorite bands.

I still like heavy stuff but I don't play it coz my rig isn't really suited for that. I like everything from Decapitated to Behemoth to Marduk, Zyklon, Emperor, Arcturus...the list goes on...MDB, Evoken....Susperia...there's just too much good stuff out there...btw quite a bummer about Pete Steele expiring...and also Dio, the great ones are dropping.

I use a Gibson les paul classic and a Marshall mode 4 half stack - pedals are for kids, real men use tone and skill ? - I also use a Fender delta tone strat for everything that the Gibson can't do.

I like a full bodied sound - no scooping the mids...I admit I liked that sound a long time ago when I was I going for a frosty winter sound with a jackson ps3, a metal zone 2 and an MG250...but

Today I like a thicker, warmer sound. More scales, more chords...and just good riffs. No funny stuff either - just guitar straight in to amp and lots of GAIN!

I thought pedals are what enhanced your tone, and had nothing to do with your skill level.......... hahahaha

I like your choice of guitars, the Gibby and the Strat.........don't know much about the Mode 4. Do post some pics!

There's a remake on the way... maybe they'll downgrade the WTF so old folks can enjoy it too...
