Hi
Ive heard allot recently about guys modding any amp to sound like bogners etc in South Africa, what your guys take on this.

Well, there's only so much you can do - there's a big difference between a Fender Champ and a Bogner Shiva. But most popular amps can be modded to some point to change their voice or gain a bit. Mesa Boogies were originally hotrodded Fender Princetons.

Alan, my problem mostly is, i dont wanna buy one amp then get it modded to sound like something else and then not knowing until the final thing arrives if it really is the sound you want ....
Id rather go play on a bogner and if i like it, just buy one ...

Yeah, that makes sense.

If you download a Schematic and have amp-tech friends lol you can make clones. There's a site I came across that had schematics for soldano slo, marshall, mesa and I THINK bogner clones. It should be cheaper if you buy your parts and make it, instead of buying a new amp and modding it.

One thing to watch for if trying to build a clone is that some of the manufacturers publish schematics with deliberate mistakes in them just to stop this. Mesa boogie in particular are renowned for this. Also modern high gain amps like a lot of Mesa's, Bogners etc. with multiple cascading gain stages are pretty complex and not easy to clone. Simpler amps like Champs, early Marshalls etc. are an order of magnitude simpler.
Watch those voltages too - 450 odd volts in a valve amp is LETHAL, discharge your caps.
