Having been through a battle with carpal tunnel syndrome (left hand, eventually required surgery) and still having occasional problems with nerve entrapment, I retain an interest in the ergonomics of guitaring. I'm not an expert, but I do find this interesting and I think more and more attention may be bought to bear on this aspect of building guitars.
Anyhoo...
There's an interesting web site about ergonomic guitars at
http://buildingtheergonomicguitar.com/
They make several references to "Klein Guitars" IE this
I've seen these around occasionally. Henry Kaiser owns a couple of them.
This reminded me of something else that I'd seen some years ago - the Ovation Breadwinner.

This hit the market in the early 70s. Ovation were aiming for an instrument that had good balance when played standing or sitting, and allowed good access to the high frets. It was not a great success, but seems to have been influential as regards ergonomics.
The web sites deals with acoustic and electric guitars and bass guitars. There is some interesting reading there.
