If someone gives you a complimant, say thanks and dont let it go to your head.
So true........should be every Beginner/ Intermediate guitarists mantra...... ?
? i must say i think just the opposite re the above comment ...............
i think muso's should let compliments go to their heads and rightly so.......... in my humble opinion an ego is a great thing for a muso to have ...........
cos being a "live" music performer is somewhat like being a boxer ....each has to believe they awesome at what they do
(even if they aren't) ...........that way they perform much better .......... a fact of the live scene is that musos( however great in rehearsal room) who are insecure about their talents seldom perform well live .......... ever wonder why ?
it's the "showmanship angle" of the mind set of believing one is gonna kick ass allows one to...... but if you insecure you spend all gig watching the audience for approval and forget that they just wanna be entertained.............and it needn't be by complex music just basic music played well with confidence ....
i just had to throw a cat among the pidgeons ? but i do prefer muso's with big attitude about their playing
and as for following ones dreams..yeah i think thats awesome .................
surprisingly it's not that hard to be a performing muso on the pro circuit .................... you just need to get out there and do it........ and obviously play well... ........ and yes it is risky but if you good enough you'll be noticed and the gigs will happen.......however i feel too many people hold back somehow......... for whatever reason........ but it's there to be "had" if you want it ..........
