SSS vs HSS

Soooo,I'm turning 21 sum time soon,and my parents gave me a bought for a present...and a american deluxe strat fits in perfectly
But I can't make up my mind,SSS or HSS...this will be my first strat,iv mainly played humbuckers all my life,thou I have coil tap on all of them
O and there was a tele(and it was nice)...

So yea,I can't make up my mind ?

O and what's the neck profile options on those things(I can't find it on the fender site)

The HSS is more flexible, but they both have the S1 switching, so both have a big range of sounds. Depends on what you want/need: classic Strat or more modern and flexible?

I don't know the thickness for sure (about 20 - 21mm, at a guess), but they have modern C shape necks.

Vick, also remember that just because your budget can stretch that far, it doesn't mean you have to go for the (probably limited) options you'll find in the Deluxes in your local store (though I'm almost certain you'll find something good/you like among them). Maybe try out a few Strats of all descriptions and settle on the one you like - whether it's just the right feel or neck profile, or sound or playability. If it comes in under budget, then you either have more drinking money, or a new budget for any upgrades you might want to add. The newer Standards seem like great quality anyway, from what I've seen.

This isn't an issue. Get an HSS with a coil-tap in the H. My Pacifica has the unusual arrangement of a "humbucker" in the bridge (looks like one) which is actually two discreet single-coils that can run together as an extremely sweet sounding humbucker. This way the single-coil sound isn't half-assed.
