A client sent this onto me:
http://www.clicklesstruebypass.com/, while relay switching itself isn't new, this has to be the most elegant solution I've seen to date and I've contacted the owners to see if I can't pick up the line for SA since I do a fair bit of modding to these types of pedals. It is self contained, inexpensive (about double the cost of a 3PDT switch, but you save the difference in labour) and much more reliable than a mechanical switch, tested for up to 400,000 cycles!
