Wah pedals have captured audiences’ attention for many years mainly because of how expressive they can be in the right hands (under the right feet ? ) and due to the artists that famously use them. There are many brands and derivatives out there. I am in the market for one and have been checking out a few over the years. Personally I am leaning towards the Ibanez Weeping Demon, but there are so many...
Which Wahs have you guys tested and/or owned. What features are a must sound-, feature- and durability wise. (Low maintenance moving parts and a true bypass comes to mind...) What are your positive and negative impressions of them and which wahs would you recommend one includes in your rig. (Lets face it. If you play lead your rig is incomplete without a decent Wah in the arsenal! ..Imo, of course..)

I have only owned one, The Dunlop original crybaby, but I sold that when I was young and unaware of what I was doing. Was a great pedal. But if I had to get one now, I would either go for that (Definately a Dunlop I rate) or possible the Zakk Wylde edition. I saw a clip of that one on youtube and it is a beast. Apparently it is built like a tank, and looks like one too. Quite costly tho, but quality aint cheap. You should check it out

I've heard good things about Cry Babies, Morleys, Vox and the Ibanez Weeping Demon... (Amongst others.)

I have a vox v847.. I got it just because it was cheap, not because I liked this particular model.. However, it's well built, sounds good.. It's an old school wah pedal, no buttons, just a wah.. I think the demon is a great pedal, has more options from what i've seen and read about it. never played one though!

I have VOX pedal too, not sure which one. Like a classic pedal of some sort, very unadorned. Well built, but...
Noisy, and has a very small range where all the action happens, so you have to have quite a bit of finesse to use it.
I prefer the Wah that a mate of mine has: Eddie Van Halen sig Wah. Very cool sweep effect you get with it, feels a bit easier and more natural to use.

I've also owned and sold an original crybaby. I currently own a Morley bad horsie and it's cool - mainly due to the fact that its switchless. I've been looking at the dunlop wahs again. I've jammed on a few and the ones I'd check out are the run of the mill 535Q, Dime's crybaby from hell and Zakk's signature wah. Oh and I nearly forgot about Slash's new signature wah-would dig to check that out too.
(Lets face it. If you play lead your rig is incomplete without a decent Wah in the arsenal! ..Imo, of course..)
In total agreement with you there mate 8)

Any opinions on a Boss PW-10? I'm thinking of potentially getting one...

Sounds like the same one as mine.. It's kinda lame.. You have to practice it. I use to use my wah on the GT-5 multi effects.. And that was great, the whole range of motion of the pedal affected the sound.. The vox isn't the same.. Kinda annoying, but fine if you get the hang of it.

At the shallower price end I'd prefer the Vox over the standard Crybaby.
Bought a Dime sig (Crybaby from Hell) 'cause the price was great (mint, used) and its very tweakable, meaning I can get a nice sound with either the Les Paul or Strat.
I'd say ignore the name on the side - I'm not a Pantera fan - and buy the one with the right mojo for you.

I've got a 535Q crybaby and it's pretty decent. Very versatile, and doesn't chow your bottom end when activated like the original one does, even though i do like that sound also. The boost is pretty useless (in my case - literally), because i've got a compressor before my wah, and you can't exactly activate it as it the little boost button is hard to reach, and you're obviously going to use to solo, and not going to reach down and quickly find the boost to cut through the mix when it's needed. But all in all is a great wah!

Anyone have experience with an Ibanez Weeping Demon? Still the Wah that holds my attention at the moment...

Thanks. I always test gear for myself before purchasing and/or giving my impression of the item(s). It's more efficient to test gear when you already have the plusses and negatives that others have experienced in your head. It just makes it less likely that you'll miss something that might frustrate you later after you've made the purchase...

Kinda pricey, but really good, fulltone clyde wah.....check it out man ?

Getting my DUNLOP CRYBABY tomorrow \o/ super excited
Chose that because it seems to be the definitive wah pedal, and it's nice and cheap. Might move on to a different one in time.

got my crybaby and I'm loving it. I only have the one other stompbox that i use atm (digitech screamin' blues) and the two sound really nice together. I've experimented with the order a bit. Do you guys prefer wah->OD or OD->Wah? I think i'm leaning toward the former (makes it a bit easier to play as it doesnt make the wah cut out the sound completely when it's completely 'heeled'). Opinions?

I prefer my wah before any overdrives or delay or anything... No technical explanation, would just say that it sounds better that way in my setup!
