Yip, still orange, once the machining is done then onto powder coating. Re costs, they have raised a bit with upgrading the components and the cost of the CNC'ing, I want these to look, feel and sound pro and comparable to ANY boutique pedal out there. I'm going to run a special offer, with R500 off the full retail price for the first 10 as a promo, the first 4 are already sold and the other 6 will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Hey MATT,

Can you post a sound and vid clip of those please? A peddle that splutters sounds awesome. By the way, if I need parts do you sell? I am in love with the entire zvex range of pedals. Super hardon is a must and the Wooly Mammoth and the box of rock is incredulous.

Well the final prototype is still with the metal shop, need it for samples... in June it will be a WHOLE year since I started this project... what is it with South African work ethics, stuff just gets left to the bottom of the pile.... GRRR, will call and bug the tomorrow. I have enough parts to make 20 of them, but no chassis or PCB's...GRRR.

RE parts, yes, I stock a fair selection and what I don't have I can source, just let me know what it is you need.

Without much further ado, here is a breakdown of the Fuzzsilla pedal, it's build/construction and some sound clips. Please forgive the filiming/editing, I've never made a video clip before, all new ground for me, need to work on my editing skills and it is all 'freetime', but I hope it gives you all the gist.

Thanks, though my wife thinks I need to smile more :-\ At least it gives you some idea of what the pedal looks/sounds like, I'll be doing much better recordings in time, this was just to quickly get it out there and show my own excitement on the end of a chapter and beginning of another.

Well I was dealt a bit of a blow this morning, I had anticipated that silk-screening in low quantities would be expensive (low being 10 units at a time), but not nearly as expensive as I thought... turns out if I want to do it I have to increase the retail price of the pedal my R200 just to cover my costs! It comes down to a 1/3 of the price if I do 50 at a time, but at this point in time I just don't think the market is big enough and it HUGE outlay with little return right now.

I guess the thing is hypothetically (though some of you have already expressed interest) would you want to pay an extra R200 for the pedal for the screening, or save the money by having a the pedal with a custom engraved trafolyte panel, like this one:

I quite like it and it give it more of a boutique feel to me, and doing all the pedal like that allows me to create a 'brand' around the way they look, plus it is fairly inexpensive, to the point I'd not have to increase the retail costs.

Thoughts?

I prefer the minimalistic look that the panel provides and the reduced retail is a bonus too.

1) I like the orange case with the white knobs more. I think that looks less generic. If I saw that colour scheme I'd be more curious about what it was than with the green box and black knobs

2) The embossed plate is cool IMO. But maybe just rearrange it so that control descriptions are closer to the controls.

My observation is that the green one in the picture is the Tubescreamer and that the Fuzzilla will be orange w/white?

This is a tricky one. I don't like the layout of the control descriptions at all. Yet removing them, somebody's going to complain that they don't know which is which (although really. Tubescreamer. C'mon.).

Is there no way you could get the silkscreening done cheaper somehow? Some kind of alternative that would make the cost manageable.

why dont you buy some paint and do them by hand?

That would give them a cool feel........ or do some sort of DIY approach to them......... As long as they all sound the same they dont have to look the same

I like the trafolyte? badge. For me Id rather know that you spent more time on the inner bits than the outer bits so it can be baby @#$% brown with kids crayon scribbles on it as long as it sounds awesome. ?

i think an effect without names for the various controls is a cool concept to toy around with.. when messing around with it and working on the tone you want out of it, there's less subconscious "priming", for lack of a better word, and you focus on the actual sound and not what the knobs are telling you the sound should be.. ???
