I am personally trying to decide between a decent power brick in the future or decent patch cables. I was also thinking that most of the clubs etc.
we play in very often dont have decent earthed power and its usually pretty "dirty" before even reaching my board so maybe buying decent power supplies is actually a waiste of money??? just a thought?
A good power supply will have circuitry to deal with voltage fluctuations and reduce noise coming in on the mains. As with so many things you get what you pay for.
I would think that the situation with the power output from the pedals depends on the whole chain of pedals, what their individual requirements are, how much load each of them imposes on the actual power supply and so on. I'd further imagine that the pedals themselves are not conditioning or generating power, they just provide a parallel connection to help you reduce the number of connections you need to your pedal board and their length.
