Alan any reason in particular the love squeeze? as apposed to say a Keeley? I am very interested to know
Transparency - I like compression to level volumes and nothing else, like the best studio compressors. Nothing wrong with those that have more character and more of an obvious, pumping/breathing effect (CS-3, Dynacomp, Orange Squeezer, Janglebox), but I prefer as neutral as possible (Love Squeeze, Diamond, Comp-Nova).
The Keeley
is a great comp, more transparent than many and
very musical, but it still adds a certain something to the sound (probably best described as a "bit of sparkle") and does pump a bit on higher settings. If I was into compression as an effect rather than a problem solver, the Keeley would probably be my first choice.
