Hi All
My name is Conrad Pienaar. Have been playing the guitar since age 14. I have released 1 laid back acoustic cd independently (since no SA record company was willing to work with us). I am one half of an instrumental acoustic guitar duet called Mischief. We perform regularly in the Gauteng region. I play flamenco, jazz, prog rock and neo classical metal.
I am (Like Wynand) caught between 2 worlds. Having to work as a software deleoper during the day and often nights while I SHOULD be practicing.
I listen to: Dream Theater, Shadow Gallery, Al Di Meola, Jesse Cook, Sergei Prokofiev, Maurice Ravel etc...
I own 3 electrics (Ibanez RG 370 with floating bridge, Ibanez SCA220, Sheckter Omen 7 string) and 3 acoustics (A 98 Takamine G series, A Yamaha Nylon string, I forget the model number and another Ibanez exotic wood steel string.)
And lastly, I am very glad to have found this forum of like minded individuals ?
Kindest regards
Conrad Pienaar

Hi Conrad, welcome...amazing how many IT guys there are on this forum!
ConradP
Really? There must be a reason for that. I'm sure a study will reveal some relationship between the 2 schools of thought then hahaha Well at least I hope so as to justify such a Jeckyl & Hyde existence. Thanks for the welcome ?

Hi Conrad
Yep, you're in good company here - almost as many geeks as there are guitarists around these parts ? . I used to think that the number of musos who were in IT was related to the Yamaha DX-7 and Roland D-20 synths (if you can program a DX-7, you can program anything!), but I don't know anymore.

Hi Tyrone
Yes the Omen 7 is good (it's the black one). I want to use it for a solo recording in 2009 but at the moment, I have trouble getting it set up just right so at the moment I do most of my electric work on the sca220 because it's so comfortable.
Nice to meet another kindered spirit. Are you also a developer?

Hi Tyrone
The problem is that I can't reach the speed on my Sheckter that I can on my Ibanez. The action is just a bit too high and admittedly the thicker neck takes some getting used to. But I'll take it to a good guitar tech soon. I have to start using it in recordings soon.
