Shop around. Unless you really want the black ibanez.
I have good acoustics and just fool around on electric. I bought 2nd hand....
* Cort strat copy
* Boss microcube 10w amp (with a couple more features than the amp in that ibanez pack)
Then I pimped the guitar with some 2nd hand pups I bought off somebody on GFSA and had a new nut fitted.
So it's now a reasonable guitar. I don't have the slips but the whole lot was under 3 grand by a useful amount.
If you want to go that starter pack route then you're going to end up with a guitar that you must presume to be badly set up. Experienced players know when a guitar is badly set up and can often identify the problem. Novice players get a badly set up guitar, find it hard to play and assume the problem is then.
So if you really want to get one of those starter packs then put a big extra aside and take the guitar to a good technician and get it set up. It'll play better and stay in tune better.
Thanks for the reply. ?
How much are we talking about "setting aside" to get it set up by a technician?
What I like about the starter pack is that I could buy it almost immediately at a reasonable price.
Bargain hunting takes time, especially if you have no idea what you're doing or looking for! ?
The universal advice though has been to avoid starter packs and scour the 2nd hand market so I think that's what I'll do then. It's very intimidating though since I don't know what I'm doing really or what a good deal is. It will require patients as well but I suppose learning to play a guitar and patients go hand in hand! ? Maybe I'll learn a thing or two about guitars as well.
If anybody sees a good deal in my price range, I'd greatly appreciate the heads up!
If I find a good deal in another part of the country, what does it cost roughly to transport it here?
