I miss Weird Al. Back in the day, the SABC used to have a sense of humour and they'd actually play his stuff pretty often. I think the first video of his I ever saw was Like a Surgeon ("cuttin' for the very first tiiiiime"). It's a pity we don't get to hear much from him any more.

Back in the day before computers tabs and internet people bought sheet music. I have a couple of Hendrix songs published by the same publishers with different lyrics. A good example is a Song called My friend that Hendrix only recorded once. One publication goes:

You know good 'well I don't drink Coffee so you fill my cup full of sand
With the frozen tea leaves at the bottom shedding it's sticks around the broken edge

and the other:

You know good world I don't drink Coffee so you fill my cup full of sand
With the broken TV in the bar room sharing it's sticks around the broken edge

The real cracker is that I have listen to the track hundreds of time and both versions could be right although the first one make more sense

Like Hendrix singing Kiss the sky and not Kiss this guy. I swear I cant hear the sky version though, no matter how hard I listen. I always hear Kiss this guy.

Wow, that's so nostalgic listening to Nirvana. Isn't the gist of it that here he is, he's an entertainer, he's stupid, And here are the people, they want to be entertained.

I swear I cant hear the sky version though, no matter how hard I listen.

I always heard "kiss the sky", always wondered why people heard "kiss this guy".

It's always embarrassing when you don't quite get all the lyrics, but you love the song, so you make up some words that seem to go. I remember one song by Queen where I just didn't quite catch the words "Our love must die", so I invented the most logical replacement "I like my style". Much to the amusement of my brother.

And then there's this epic "interpretation" that I'm sure everyone knows.

Generally I dont really pay much attention to lyrics. 'Kiss this guy' was mentioned in an article or something and that made me listen for it. So maybe its because I was listening for it that thats what I heard, who knows. Now its stuck though.:-S
