Mother of Pearl

I am busy building a Gibson SG and i am looking for Mother of Pearl to do the inlays with.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

KMTs Knife supplies sells Mother of Pearl blanks, but I have no idea on whether the prices are reasonable.

I don't know how suitable their sizes are to make inlays out of though. They're in Pretoria, but they do ship to Cape Town. I've bought some Dymondwood from them recently without any issues.

You gonna give it the works - bound fret-board, crown inlays, holly veneer headstock, all that stuff?

No, i am doing it as a solid one piece.

I guess it won't be an exact replica, but the idea is that it works for now.

I have no previous building experience so i am a little nervous as to how it will come out.

I am using Alnico classic II humbuckers from Tonerider for the vintage look and sound.
All the other parts are original.The headstock plate and scratch plate i will be cutting on my CNC though.

Stewmac or Luthier's Mercantile. You could also use abalone, which is plentiful around these parts. ?

Headstock plate? What you gonna do for that?

It'll be exciting to see. All these Stratocaster builds here *sniffs haughtily* are getting a bit dull ?

The pickups sound like the right thing for the job.
