So I finally got the chance to snap some of my gear.

I've had to re-work my pedal board a bit (ie. make it smaller and actually finish the damn thing ?) as I've been given the opportunity to jam with some buddies at the Grahamstown festival next week and my gear has got to be sorted. It's going to ROCK 8)

This is the gear I'll be using for the 5 shows we've got lined up + my other LP as backup.Just got to finish the lid for the board.
Simple,yet effective ?

My Bassman and Warp 7 stack in the background

H&K club reverb and 2x12 Valve King. The club reverb is a lekker little amp - I love this thing. Valve King is not with me anymore :'( -bloody loud 2x12 though :bopping:

My 2 RG's. Pics are a bit outdated. Both have been re-wired, new pups installed and are clean ?

I built this board for Paul from The Summer Underground and am busy with one for Adam the other guitarist.

Is anyone going to the Grahamstown festival BTW?

There's some really awesome gear there man. You've certainly invested wisely in amps, apart from anything else. I reckon you should keep the bassman. A great complement to the Marshall.

I take it you like Boss pedals ?

Indeed it will be dude ? Great bunch of people they are. They've been jamming at the studio for the last 4 years and working their buts off for ages. It's going to be a wicked experience!!!

Yeah I do dig them Boss pedals ? The DD-20 is a wicked delay and just can't stop using that old CH1. The Bassman ain't goin nowhere dude. Picked that up for practically nothing a while ago and it sounds amazing again after Graeme fixed her up the other day.

Well spotted dude 8) I didn't like the look of the Epi logo so I took stickers of my old band's logo and plakked them over it. I dig the logo and funilly enough have it inked on my right arm aswell.

Hey dude! Yeah, I built the XT case from scratch. I work in the board/timber industry so I pick up stuff for pretty cheap, sometimes for free ? I've had a few inquiries to make "custom" boards and cases and I'm refining the design as I go along. Let me know how you want to set the board up and I'll see if I can help. I have'nt got any other pics at the moment unfortunately dude. These were taken real quickly while I had some "spare" time.

Thanks!! I'll definately keep that in mind! As soon as I get my new amp and the bits that go with it, we can start looking at an optimum board layout etc. Many thanks... I'll see if I can meet up with you guys at the end of August also.

Will certainly bring my RG j-customs if I can make it -and I certainly shall try to...

I haven't decided yet. First choice would be a Mesa Roadster head & 4x12 cab, but a 100watt Mesa is just too damn loud to be driven effectively. Wish they made a 30 watt version... I’d get it in a heartbeat… The other amp that I am keen on would be an Orange Rockerverb 50. Decent cleans and awesome high gain tone imo. Just worried that it would already be too powerfull... I'd even go for smaller such as an Orange Duel Terror or Rocker 30 with 2x12 vertical or 4x12 cab. They all come with Celestion Vintage 30’s –same as the Mesa’s… The amp needs to have at least 2 channels, an effects loop, decent cleans and the ability to be cranked close to Dual Rectifier Gain –if that is possible. (I love the sound of a dual rectifier at full volume with about 50% gain…) No point in playing a big Mesa at a volume of between 1 and 3 imo... I'd rather crank a smaller quality amp as high as it'll go... I’m waiting for the next shipment of Orange amps so that I can go and test them to decide…

Any suggestions would be appreciated as always.

Yeah I do dig my Marshalls hey 8) The DSL kicked it on Saturday. I know what you mean though by not being able to crank a big amp,but the DSL sounded great at an audible level. Believe it or not, I've never jammed through a boogie before :? but have obviously heard a load of good things about them.
I'm not sure who brings in Hughes & Kettner these days but maybe check a few of their amps out. I've got a small club reverb combo and a half stack Warp 7 and they sound schaweet. If I could pick up a Tri-amp or Switchblade for a steal I wouldn't hesitate ?

Skywalker, great kit. IMO you need to oil those fretboards a bit, they look dry! guitar maintenance is just as important ... EISH

I agree with you there Francis.

The LP's get played the most these days and restrung the most. It might just be the camera angle on some of the pics that makes em look a bit dry - i don't know. I definately do oil them and clean them with every re-string.

The black RG had been a bit neglected when I took this pic but is now sorted and cleaned up ?

Francis - yeah - lem oil for sure. Are there any other oils that can be used BTW?

Don - gotta get around to taking some pics and I'll definately have them up soon. Might just do one of those Zakk Wylde poses with a ton of Marshalls in the background with me holding all my Zakk LP's ? HAHAHA!
