HOw to setup a Fuzz pedal

It seems on the jhb gigging scene up late I am seeing more bands using fuzz pedals, sadly most of these are the boss fz3 's ☹ Anyhow, they are a number of them, what I dont get is a number of them seem to have the pedals setup to create pretty much no effect OR a mass of treble, and volume. So I figured I would pose the question to all of you who haven't disregarded my posts, and use fuzz, HOW DO YOU FIND YOU GET YOUR FAVOURITE FUZZ SOUND. OR shall we enlarge it to your overdrives..... as no pedal is the same and no rig is the same we all have preferances and ways of explaining our setup..... What do you want ? How do you get it? I thought of this as up until late I was disatisfied with my FUzz sound, either to loud or abrasive, or to quite and unoticable. BUT THEN......... I took my blue box (not really a legendary fuzz pedal more octave) but I use it as fuzz, placed it after my blues pro overdrive which really gives me just a sparkle of dirt...... then put Blue box cranked full (lots of fuzz) then put my MArshall in a box Catalinbread DLS after it all, so what happens is its like my fuzz and drive combined go into a very cranked amplifier, giving me this VERY cool Torn speaker sound, but at the same time the blue box has a gate on it, so has a really cool dying battery sound...... Blues pro.............MXR blue box............. Catalinbread Overdrive.............FUZZZZZZZZ..................Cranked amp (more drive) its seems to tame the sound down which is great SO what sound do you use like or want to find?????????

Hey Mika,

What do you think the shortcomings of the Blue Box are? I think it sounds great and quirky, which I guess is what they were going for, so I'm interested to know what you think could be better?

MIKA the better one wrote I really wish i had the brains and drive to make pedals.... .then i wouldnt be one of the guys buying all the time...
I beg of you matta... please..... when you get the chance....... design aMXR blue box style pedal...... thus a fuzz, with the option of Octave down. So you get a sam wave moog like buzz saw sound........... Just improve on the mxr blue box where it falls short. All octave pedals these days are lo fi ring modulator style pedals..... and they all get a bit similar......

So that is my request, if I am rich by then I will fund the whole thing

Dude, you should totally try to get your pedal reviewed by that guy. He and his daughter must be a force to be reckoned with in pedal sales in the last year or so. Hell, they're so fun, I watch reviews even if I have no interest in the pedals. I'm sure thousands of other people do too. Damn good guitar player too.

The blue box is absolutley amazing.... its the best pedal i own .... and cheapest......

My only issues with it are, volume drop, and really when you get to the two octaves down point on the pedal it really disapears in the mix.
the c11 capavitor mod?????? I thinkthats what it is...... doesnt work all that great.

the cool thing about the blue box to me, is its a great fuzz, and when i turn the blend knob just a bit i get a octave down overtone, great and only for single note playing. But it becomes very loose and flabby and there is a loss in volume, especially with to much blend of the octave.

so many guys use this pedal and more would if it was a little touched up. The boss oc3 has a cool grindy octave down sound, but doesnt excel in its fuzz.
I have looked all over for a pedal that would simply give great simple fuzz (two knobs volume and fuzz) and then perhaps a switch for a octave down, so you get this great grindy esq sound.....

really its all just me really wishing there was a pedal which capatalised on a blue box..... There are som many tubescreamer, fuzz face, proco rat... copies or modded versions such as the Cusack screamer, keeley modded stuff, and litrally ever fuzz pedal is a copu of another idea (which is fine)

The blue box is an all time amazing pedal as you said glitchy, and quirky, great, but could be improved on in a few areas as most pedals...

I now i am all rowled up, and passionate about this

for example, this first video is a great cool sounding fuzz, that has those overtones of octave but not really actave down, its simple in layout, and very cool sounding, spluttery at times......

Now the second demo is a little more octave down like at certain settings, but is a bit awash with other things........... and a bit glitchy,
