I've only become aware of Ms Lavette lately. Seems she's one of those artists who has struggled for years and then got recognition late in her career.

I'd call this pretty soulful as well, though in a sort of WASPy, Methodist way

Somebody did awful things to this song at TJs recently, but it's not the song's fault.
