Luthier semi handmade guitars - Anyone ever hear of them?

I found one for sale. I just cant seem to find any info on the brand. Anyone have a input? The label looks like it says L. Luthier.

I'm waiting for the guy to email me back.

A Luthier is somebody who makes stringed instruments. I suppose it's possible that somewhere there is a Mr and Mrs Luthier who produced issue with a name beginning with L, but I think it more likely that this is an el cheapo range with the L... word for a name so that the charlie who bought it can kid himself he bought a "luthier made" guitar.

It's unlikely that a brand new guitar actually made by a luthier would sell for R2500, or that it would be described as "semi hand made."

Indeed, and "semi hand made" that is just strange!

Thanks for the reply guys. I emailed the seller, he said the guitar wasn't made locally. I'll maybe go have a look over the weekend. Dont really have anything to loose.

Locally made for R2500? impossible...

Lets not beat around the bush here...
There is a sticker there that says made in china somewhere.

There are some really decent acoustics to be bought for R2500... this doesn't look like one of them.

The seller might be naive enough to genuinely not know what's going on.

Some years ago, when I was in a band (with electric guitars and stuff), the drummer I played with was looking to get a better kit. He saw an ad, that seemed a bit ambiguous and oddly worded, but the two of us went out to look at the good anyway.

It was a fairly cheapo kit with stickers on it reading "Ludwig replica". The charlie selling this lot pronounced the second word on those stickers as "rehPLICKa". He genuinely didn't know that he didn't have a real Ludwig kit.
