Danie Hi, I'm buying my first valve amp tonight, and just thought that I would run it by you guys to see if you agree with my choice or have any other suggestions. I'm buying a Blackstar HT-5 combo, will be used 90% for practice and 10% jamming with my 10 year old drummer brother. My budget is R3500, I can get the Blackstar within this price. Anyone have any other suggestions or do you think the blackstar is fine? I have chosen it above a few other 4-5 watt valve amps. Just ant to make sure. Thanks
aja Go ahead. I used to own one and they are fantastic! But not very loud unless you could get a larger cabinet to go with it? tell your bro to play softly hehe
ezietsman Yeah, what they said. I own one and love it ? Perfect for bedroom play but nowhere near loud enough for playing (clean) with loud drums. If you use single coils the clean channel won't break up as much but with humbuckers it starts overdriving at around 10-11 o'clock on the volume knob. All in all a very versatile little combo amp. Cheers
Danie Thank Everyone, As my brother is only 10 years old and only in the beginning stages of playing drums Im sure it will be loud enough, The mail reason for the amp is for me to play alone on so playing with him is a big second, Thanks
Danie Picked up the HT-5 last night! Still looks brand new and sounds awesome! p.s - Anybody looking for a telecaster, the guy is also selling a Fender Baja Telecaster which is in absolute mint condition and plays and sounds amazing, really looks like its never been played... He is selling for R5500, check the add in cape town Gumtree
