Acoustic Control Corporation Amp

Got an Acoustic Control Corporation Amp today. Model G20-110, made in Van Nuys California USA (1981) . Great Tone 8)

It has a reverb knob , but there is no reverb when I turn the knob . ☹......there is however a input plug that says 'reverb' at the back of the amp. Does this mean reverb needs to be switched on and off via a foot switch , or should it work by turning the knob ? Help please.....thnx

The easiest way to answer the question whether or not there is a reverb in, is by looking inside. If there is a metal box inside the cab about as wide as it can be, about 10cm wide and 5cm high with wires on one or both sides, you've got a reverb tank. In 1981 they did not have electronic reverb in combo amps.

The jack socket you are referring to could be the connection to the reverb tank (it normally sits between two gain stages and blends into the signal path after the second stage) or, as you mention, to a foot switch. You would do well to get a schematic somewhere to figure out the function, also handy when it comes to maintenance.

Yes , There is a reverb tank , as you've described ,directly under the main sealed part of the amp .
There are 2 wires (look like single core ) that come out on either side of the tank marked 'out' ,
that go into the main sealed part of the amp where all the other components are.

Does this type of reverb arrangement on other amps work with a footswitch only ??.

In other words is the knob only there to vary the amount of reverb and the foot switch switches it on or off ?? :-[
