Power Supply Woes

So I have a few pedals...

All run on 9v and one delay that runs on either 9v or 12v 300mA, I like the 12v seems to be a cleaner sound.

The likes of compressor, tube screamer, Vibe, wah, reverb and fuzz... nothing hectic

So what I need is at least seven 9v, enough mA
and one 12v, 300mA

No plans needed for anything more...

But now I need a power supply to power ALL of them, one box.

I want to put together a pedal board that minimises all those rubbish cables I see all over, I dont want to plug in 3 power supplies into the wall to play, its a pain...

I want one, thats requires one plug in, and the rest is history

I found this site which is pretty useful.
The one that suits above (the Trex Fuel tank) seems to have so many complaints about noise and hum that I wont even look at it.
What else is there? what is locally available?
I had a look at the Voodoo Labs pedal powers, not sure which one would best suit me, the pedal power 2 plus looks good but has no 12v...

I am not a electronics bloke, I dont know this AC, DC, DAC, VAC, centre negative, whatever... ?

Would this work?

5 outputs with 9,12 and an 18 V

the 5 out puts I could use? daisy chain 2 of the outputs to two pedals? the 12v would be perfect for the delay the 18v, can just stay empty.

The 9v outputs are 100mA each, would that be enough to power 2 pedals from each output?

I got one of those Meanwell switch mode supplies (look for the 'cheap wall wart' thread) and a daisy chain to power my 3 pedals. That supply gives 9V, 2000mA so it should be plenty and its only around R140 ? it needs a slight mod though.

That pedal power thing will prob work well too.

The voodoo lab is awsum thou,you cn dip voltages and everything,thou local prices are insane...somthing like 3500 I think

I lost my tonebone HB 15v Dc power supply and i can seem to find another one at a shop! I did happen to find one in my parents house, however, it is 15v dc 300mA and the tonebone requires 400mA- so it wud be slightly underpowered.
If I use this will I risk damage to my unit?

I ended up getting the iso for now.. It works wonders, very nice.
The prices where not near, the Voodoo labs Power plus 2 was marked at R1895 - 10% - 15% on it.
The Iso was a mere R1400 - 15% for me...

Not near the R3500 mark ? good news hey

It will work but its kinda like trying to tow a caravan with a 1300, you can do it but you'll strain the adapter. Adapter would either get very hot or you'd get some annoying whine coming through due to lack of power. Look at something like:

The Cioks look like a perfect solution (I'm eyeing the TC-10, as it's the only PSU with enough juice for the TC pedals). No prices yet but German prices on the Power Bitch are EUR120 (incl. 19% VAT), so I'd guess about the same as the VL Pedal Power 2+ (EUR150-180). Might need to contact CIOKS directly to get one though.

That is the plan. Should be more than sufficient for my needs.

I might have found a price on the DC-10, it would work out to a little over R2000 excluding vat shipping etc etc, some online store in Sweden.
Looks like a good price for what you get!

I hear of power supplies dying on them etc
may be a dumb question but..

Do power supplies have a shelf life? or should they go forever if well looked after?

The Voodoo labs ISO has a 5year guarantee, should be life time IMO ?

PSUs don't last forever - they usually have electrolytic caps in them, which have a +/-15 year shelf life. But well-made ones should be repairable/serviceable and most importantly protect your pedals against all but the most catastrophic failure. VL, CIOKS and a few others have a 5-year guarantee, but you can reasonably expect at least double that in active lifespan.

I really like the looks of the CIOKS - solid construction and impressive attention to detail, from the hidden voltage selector to the recessed power plug.
