Bob-Dubery There's an interesting event (one night only) at the Southbank Centre. It's a guitar night, part of this year's Meltdown Festival. The evening is hosted by Richard Thompson and he has invited the other players. It's not clear if he himself is going to be playing, but he's not the only interesting name on the bill. Also present will be fab blues/folk player Martin Simpson, fusion guitarist John Etheridge, Ventures guitarist Nokie Edwards, James Burton, and Motown "funk brother" Dennis Coffey. The blurb says "apart from the stellar musicianship, expect some great stories, technical insights, and jamming!" So don't say nobody told you.
Bob-Dubery Support act is Beverly "Guitar" Watkins If she's just half as good as the hype she's pretty darn good. She's 70 this year. Damn! There's a whole world of players out there waiting to be discovered.
