+1 Chad... on everything you said.
Grey piano's flying has some of the most beautiful melodic passages in guitar music.

Let's just celebrate what people do well.
It's so easy for us to gain "power" by finding fault with others.
We criticise the musicians for not being technical enough.
We criticise the technicians for not being musical enough.
Let's just enjoy the achievements of people doing good things

Cool vids. Allan posted a great thread a while ago containing interesting facts about Shawn Lane. True genius and not just at guitar.
Anyway, it's not true that fast playing limits one to narrow intervals. It's called sweeping, tapping and string skipping. Good shredders don't just run through scales.

I'm not stating that fast playing limits one to narrow intervals but if you watch Lane closely you'll notice that the stretches between the digits of his left hand get very intensely scary sometimes and to play the same thing using tapping would be impossible because of the locations of the series of notes and the intervals are too successive to sweep, as for string skipping a lot of them incorporate it already while utilising intense stretches.

Chad: not referring to you ?

Oh, sorry my bad ?
