To WantzChaz: Korn got me into 7 strings but got into bands like Meshuggah and Nevermore because of it.

Yay, another one. One day our children will learn in history class that long, long ago most guitars actually had only 6 strings...and they'll shake their heads and ask the teacher 'ow those primitives managed to survive like that.

seven strings sounds like one too many to me. OK... so I'm just a poor old acoustic guitar folk hick from the sticks who has to take both shoes off to count as far as six. But don't you run into problems with barre chords on a 7 string?
